Amino Does Android Right - Raising the Bar for Enterprise Video & ProAV: Now with Android 14

Android has become a popular choice for media players in digital signage and enterprise video. Its flexibility and developer ecosystem make it attractive, but in professional AV environments, flexibility alone is not enough.

In always-on, revenue-critical deployments, Android must be engineered for control, longevity and performance.

That’s the difference between simply running Android - and doing it properly.

The Enterprise Reality of Android

Many Android media players in the market are derived from consumer-grade hardware. They work in the short term, but under 24/7 workloads, complex network environments and security scrutiny, weaknesses emerge: inconsistent firmware updates, limited remote management, short support cycles and unpredictable performance.

For ProAV integrators and enterprise IT teams, that translates into risk - higher support costs, operational downtime and lifecycle uncertainty.

Android is powerful. But without governance and roadmap discipline, it becomes a liability.

Engineering Android for Professional Deployment

At Amino, Android is not simply ported onto hardware, it is architected as a fully managed platform built on AOSP, giving full control over the operating environment and enabling deep, use case specific customization. By removing consumer dependencies and unnecessary services, we create a stable, locked-down foundation tailored for commercial deployment.

Security is central to that approach. Devices are supported with structured firmware updates aligned to CVE monitoring, secure boot protection and long-term support commitments that extend well beyond typical consumer lifecycles. This is essential in hospitality, corporate, healthcare and broadcast-adjacent environments where compliance and resilience are non-negotiable.

Performance is equally critical. Amino devices are designed to sustain 24/7 operation, delivering reliable 4K multi-decode playback and low-latency streaming across distributed networks. Hardware and software are optimised together, ensuring predictable behaviour under sustained workloads.

Advancing the Platform with Android 14

Our move to Android 14 is the next step in that platform evolution.

Android 14 strengthens system security, tightens permission controls and enhances background process management - important improvements in enterprise environments where applications must remain stable and secure over extended operating cycles.

It also brings refinements to media handling and system performance, helping maintain responsiveness and playback reliability as deployments scale.

Importantly, this is not a disruptive reset. Selected partners will receive evaluation builds ahead of full production release, allowing them to validate CMS compatibility, confirm application behaviour and test content workflows in advance. This controlled transition reflects our commitment to lifecycle management rather than reactive upgrading.

Android 14 extends the value of the existing H200 and H200W platforms, reinforcing long-term deployment confidence rather than shortening it.

A Managed Ecosystem, Not Just a Device

Amino devices integrate with the Orchestrate management platform, enabling zero-touch provisioning, firmware deployment at scale and real-time monitoring. This ecosystem approach is what allows Android to function as a controlled enterprise platform rather than a standalone appliance.

For integrators, that means fewer truck rolls, better visibility and greater operational predictability. For end customers, it means systems that simply stay online.

Why It Matters

In ProAV, the difference between a successful rollout and a support burden often comes down to platform discipline. Android is now firmly embedded in commercial AV, but only engineered implementations will stand up to long-term enterprise demands.

With decades of broadcast and IP video heritage, Amino applies that same engineering mindset to Android. The result is a secure, scalable media platform designed for professional environments and continually evolved through structured roadmap development.

Android 14 is not just a version upgrade. It is further proof that doing Android properly requires more than hardware specifications. It requires control, lifecycle commitment and an ecosystem built for scale.

As part of Amino’s ongoing commitment to keeping our platform secure, current and fully supported long term, we’re making an Android 14 evaluation build available to selected partners and customers. This early access release is designed to help validate workflows, confirm application compatibility and prepare for a stable production rollout planned for Q2.
