Use Case
Connecting Fans to Their Favorite Sporting Events
Betting is how sports fans become part of the action when viewing their favorite sporting events. Due to the time sensitive nature of betting, key features such as latency, reliability and performance are critical in the selection and deployment of integrated video streaming solutions.
A leading sports streaming platform with rights to hundreds of global sporting event also provides a service enabling restaurants, hotels, bars and hospitality businesses to oüer fans the best live sports such as major football/soccer leagues, F1 car racing.
In collaboration with sports video platform provider, iGame Media, Amino’s H200 media player has been selected to enable live video delivery to TV screens in European betting shops. The H200 was chosen based on its power and flexibility which includes the ability to be controlled via a PC instead of an IR based remote control.
In addition, iGame Media used the Amino browser and sample code available with the Amino SDK, to build a custom zapper application. The resulting application is hosted on their own servers, integrated with a custom UI and Widevine encryption. With a keen focus on real-time video delivery, support for low latency DASH was a key requirement. Amino engineers collaborated with partner engineering teams to implement, validate and tweak the DASH profile for each location based on local network performance. Locations with lower bandwidth rely on the configurability of the H200 to tune properties for a particular location such as limiting the video profile to avoid bitrate-related video delivery issues. Amino Orchestrate, a cloud-based device management solution allows varied and complex configurations to be easily deployed and tuned on field deployed boxes as well as providing real-time visibility of device performance data.
The H200s are rack-mounted into chassis at each location, with video delivered to 3800 screens and counting. As the integrated platform is deployed in each location, it is tested locally for performance and fault tolerance. Amino designs the H200 devices to a strict set of environmental and ambient temperature standards enabling this type of rack-mounted solution.
The H200 media player powered by AminoOS provides a future facing solution. The AminoOS managed roadmap ensures a cycle of updates, which enhances the device performance. This gives our customer confidence that the H200 media player will enable low latency delivery of sports content today and in the future, a message reinforced by the recent upgrade to support Low Latency HLS, which the customer will shortly take advantage of.
