As healthcare providers consider how to maintain a high standard of patient care during the COVID-19 pandemic, it is essential that they also prioritize the health, safety, and well-being of both patients and employees.

This was top of mind for a world renowned hospital group, when they were planning for updates to the video platforms serving their patient rooms.

With a focus on caring for patients with serious, complex illnesses, the group operates in five states and several international locations, caring for more than one million people per year, from all 50 states and nearly 140 countries.

The group’s video team began its search for an updated video platform to achieve a streamlined, consistent experience across all video solutions. In addition, the updated platform would need to comply with updated network security standards. The hospital group selected video platform integrator, AVI, to assist them in the design for an updated bespoke solution that would:

• Address enhanced network security requirements for how the media player would identify itself on the hospital network
• Support Android and the hospital group’s custom video applications and front-end launcher app
• Reduce risk for contamination through use of Power-over-Ethernet and media player with a ruggedized chassis for out-of-sight installation

In addition to these key requirements, our customer also required a device that could easily integrate with UEI’s fully cleanable Slate remote control that can be wiped-down with common hospitality and healthcare disinfectant cleaners or wipes before each new guest stay.

Amino’s devices were easily able to connect with the Slate and provide the added value of mapping the remote control keys, as needed, by the hospital group.

Amino also introduced capabilities for touchless management of deployed devices, in multiple geographic locations, through its cloud-based device management platform. Amino Orchestrate allows the central video services team, rather than medical staü, to remotely view, identify and manage issues with any device – all without putting patients at risk.

The H200 media player will initially be deployed in over 400 patient rooms. Amino was selected by AVI by demonstrating its engineering capabilities to adapt and integrate with simple and complex systems. The result is fulfilling the hospital’s goals to unify their TV platform, requirements for use of sanitizable remote controls, and most importantly, tweaking our platform to comply with their network security requirements.
